Premium Black Nickel Round Bend VMC® Hooks Finished with two high-quality VMC black nickel trebles, the Rapala Scatter Rap Tail Dancer combines two of Rapala’s most effective designs to give anglers one rod-bending lure.īalsa Body with Scatter Lip, Wire Through Construction Internally, the Rapala Scatter Rap Tail Dancer is fitted with a wire-through construction that bolsters durability, as well as, a high-frequency rattle that calls to fish from a distance. Crafted from premium-grade balsa wood, the Rapala Scatter Rap Tail Dancer has a wide tail action that, when coupled with the Scatter Rap Lip, perfectly imitates the actions of a panicked baitfish trying to avoid capture. I truly wish Rapala would make this lure in a larger size, possibly 16 or 18.Combining the classic “banana-style” body of the Tail Dancer with Rapala’s revolutionary Scatter Rap Lip, the Rapala Scatter Rap Tail Dancer delivers a hyper-aggressive action that drives bass, pike, and walleye absolutely wild. For it's size, it is very light, making it very difficult for me to cast it on my Shimano Caenan. Don't expect to cast a mile like the lures with weight transfers.Ĭomments: This isn't a review, but, it is a complaint about this lure. Just put it in the tackle box on those windy days because it will not cast well. I found while casting, the Scatter Rap Tail Dancer consistently reaches 7 to 9 feet on 12-pound line. This instant dive allows the bait to hit the strike zone faster and stay in the strike zone longer. As the line tightens at the beginning of a retrieve, the Scatter Rap starts diving. Bypass this purchase and stick to the original floater.Ĭomments: bill broke off within the first couple of outings.Ĭomments: It does have that erratic swimming action to it. The Scatter Rap lip engages the water immediately. I have tried throwing it on different lines, finding no luck. The bill makes it almost impossible to cast in all conditions. Most important, this is the worse casting lure on the market. In order to achieve that evasive swimming action you have to reel at a high speed. Couldn't expect more from Rapala! Pick some upĬomments: This is a great concept, terrible practice. Highly recommend in Purpledescent and silver. The original Tail Dancer has been a staple in walleye anglers tackleboxes for years, now Rapala® has added the Scatter Rap lip to give this lure the ultimate evasive, erratic action. Now they have the Scatter Rap Tail Dancer. Caught many different species including largemouths walleyes and white bass. A few years ago Rapala® introduced the Scatter Rap Series, changing the way anglers fished crankbaits. TRY IT!!įrom: Captain Adam: Lake George, NY 8/17/15Ĭomments: Awesome lure! Despite the disadvantages of its light weight I am still able to make it work. I will write to Rapala and suggest they beef up the belly with something stronger then balsa wood. This design flaw may be costly, but the lure is worth replacing. (Note: recently 2 other lures have suffered the same fate), the wire held at the snap swivel and all three fish were netted. My first Scatter rap pulled in 4 Large lakers before a 26"er tore the Hookwire from the belly of the lure. I use it mainly FLATLINE trolling for springtime Lake trout and Landlocked Salmon (also caught a Lake trout off a down rigger at 90ft on my first attempt). The fish love it! During the past two years since I began using the scatter rap, it has out performed other lures about 8 to 1. Emails to Rapala have gone unanswered.Ĭomments: This Lure is a fish magnet! It is best used as a trolling bait. As long as they stay together, these are walleye killers. At $9 per lure, this can get very expensive. This is open water trolling and the bills just "disappear". It's not like we're abusing this lure on rocks or other structure. Unfortunately, on four of the five Scatter Raps I bought, the bills broke off after very little use.
